Applications relevant to the Diploma in Law are processed via the LPAB Student Tuition and Examination Management System (STEMS).
Registration as a Student-at-Law
Register as a new student by signing up to the STEMS portal. There is a one-off registration fee of $330. Payment can be made online via the portal once you've created your account.
Exemption to Rule 29(1) - Australian Residency
If you wish to seek seeking an exemption to Rule 29(1) of the NSW Admission Board Rules 2015 as you reside overseas you will need to read and sign the Request for exemption to Rule 29(1) – Australian Residency Declaration Form.
Note: only overseas trained lawyers are eligible to participate in the course from overseas for the purpose of completing subjects required for admission as a lawyer in Australia.
You should attach this document to your Student Registation case on STEMS.
Enrolments
You can enrol into your course subjects each term via the 'Enrolment' button on your STEMS portal home page. Please note that enrolments cannot be accepted before the enrolment period.
Rule 67 Application
To submit a Rule 67 application ($110 fee), select the 'Student Course Application' button on the home page in STEMS. Please apply approximately one month before the enrolment period of the term in which you wish to resume your studies.
Please refer to the Policy on Applications made Pursuant to Rule 67 Of The New South Wales Admission Board Rules 2015 before making an application.
Student Course Application (Accelerated or Out-of-Order Study)
To submit a Student Course Application for accelerated or out-of-order study ($110 fee), select the 'Student Course Application' button on the 'Welcome' page in STEMS. Before completing your application, please read the Fact Sheet - Applying for relaxation of the Progression Rules (PDF, 75.7 KB).
Special Exam Arrangements Application
To submit a Special Exam Arrangements Application select the 'Miscellaneous' button on the home page in STEMS and choose 'Special arrangement request' from the drop-down menu

Application to sit Examinations Online by Exception
To submit an Application to sit Examinations Online by Exception ($210 fee) select the 'Miscellaneous' button on the home page in STEMS and choose 'Online by exception' from the drop-down menu.

Transcript of Academic Record
All students can view and download their unofficial transcripts at any time in STEMS. On the examinations page, select 'Download Unofficial Transcript' at the top right.
Official Transcripts can currently not be ordered via STEMS. Please use the online payment option on the Fees page and email your receipt to [email protected] with details of your request.
Please note, once you have completed the Diploma in Law you will receive a final transcript from the LPAB free of charge after your final exam results are released.
