STEMS stands for Student Tuition Examination Management System.
STEMS is the LPAB’s student portal where all LPAB applicants and existing students can manage their student journey.
Through STEMS you will be able to:
Upon multiple attempts to login to STEMS unsuccessfully, the system will lock and display the message "Operator is Locked".
Please wait 30 minutes and re-attempt to login.
If you do not know your password, you can re-set your password by returning to the login page and clicking on "Trouble logging in?".
Please wait 30 minutes before entering the new password.
Try adding the passcode with keystrokes (typing the password out), rather than copy and paste.
If issues persist please send an email to [email protected] with a screenshot of the issue.
To maintain security the details you insert must match exactly to the details the LPAB has on file.
As the previous system did not have a middle name field, this data was included in the first name field. Please try including your middle name in the 'Legal first name' field and do not include anything in the 'Middle name' field.
Once users have signed up for STEMS, you can initiate a name change request from the “miscellaneous” tile on the STEMS welcome page.
If issues persist please send an email to [email protected]. Please attach the verification failure email you received so we can identify the data issue.
If you are a returning student you should have selected 'yes' to the question 'are you an existing student registered with LPAB' and are not required to registration fee.
Student accounts that selected 'no' in error will need to be deleted before account activation can proceed.
If you have started a registration case as a new student in error email [email protected] with 'Reg-Delete' in the subject heading.
The STEMS system will only allow you to proceed if you have uploaded “Entry Category documents”. Please do not upload your “Entry category documents” as “Academic documents:
1. In the drop-down menu, ensure “Entry category document” remains the selected option.
2. The ‘Entry category document/s’ you upload here must be different to (or named differently to) the academic documents such as transcripts you previously uploaded in the process. The system does not allow you to upload the same document twice.
Please note, the DVS only recognises documents that are registered with an Australian Government agency.
New Students
Answer NO to the action: Provide your consent to verify your details through online identity check. You will then be able to upload your documents for manual review.
If you have failed DVS you cannot go any further with your application. Go to the home screen and start a new Registration. Make sure you select NO to online identity check.
Returning Students
Please email us with your registration case ID and copies of your 100 points of identification. We can manually verify the documents on your behalf.
Students with ‘Stale Learning’ must follow the subject order determined at the time of their re-entry to the course—not the order shown in STEMS. Please follow these steps:
1. Enrol in the subjects that STEMS allows you to select, even if they are not the ones you need to re-sit.
2. Email [email protected] with the subject line: “STEMS Stale Learning”.
3. In your email, list the correct subjects you are required to enrol in.
This issue requires remediation by our IT team and may take up to five working days to resolve.
This process will need to be completed for each enrolment for the duration of your study with the Board.
If STEMS prompts you to enrol in 01 Foundations of Law but you have already completed and passed 01 Legal Institutions, please follow these steps:
1. Submit an enquiry through STEMS or email [email protected] to report the issue.
2. A Student Services Officer will correct the problem and notify you once it’s resolved.
3. Start a new enrolment case and proceed to enrol in the correct subjects.
There are a few possible reasons for this issue:
1. Academic exemptions not processed
We may not have received or entered your academic exemptions. Please email a copy of your outcome letter to [email protected].
If you have already taken some of the subjects at a diffrent institution please advise.
2. Lecture timetable clash
If you are trying to enrol in subjects with clashing lectures, you must submit a Student Course Application via STEMS and pay the $116 application fee.
3. Other issues
If neither of the above applies, please email us at [email protected] with a screenshot of your full enrolment page (including all subjects) so we can assist or escalate the issue.
Applications should be made shortly after enrolment. During the enrolment process, you will need to select either Mode 1 or Mode 2 as your preferred option in case your application to sit the exam online is not approved. If approved, your Mode will be updated automatically in STEMS.
Do not wait for the outcome of your application before enrolling - applications are assessed after the enrolment period has closed but before the census date.
