Frequently Asked Questions - Costs and Payments

How much does the Diploma in Law cost?

There is a one-off registration fee of $330. Once you are registered as a student you will then pay per subject as you enrol each semester. Each subject as at October 2024 is $1089.  If you pass every subject first time the total cost of the course therefore, is under $22,000.

This does not include any additional applications you may make during the course of your studies, for example applications for online exams. This also does not include the cost of text books or other study supports and materials.

Can I get a HECS-HELP loan or a VET student loan?

No. The LPAB is not covered by any Commonwealth supported student loan scheme, and therefore students are not eligible for any HECS-HELP Loan or VET Student Loan.

Payments are made upfront per subject each semester.

Can I pay in instalments?

In general we are unable to accept payments by instalments.

Students who are experiencing financial difficulties may be eligible for a No Interest Loan Scheme for educational purposes. Student's must have first perused this option prior to the submitting a request to the LPAB.

Permission to pay in instalments may be granted in exceptional circumstances with prior approval from the LPAB. Please note that grants of this nature are extremely rare.

To make a request to pay in instalments you are required to submit a Financial Relief Application. Please email your application and supporting documentation to [email protected]

Please note that these applications may be considered by the Board. Please see the 'Important dates' page of the LPAB website for information on when the next Board Meeting will be held.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment needs to be made via the STEMS portal with a credit or debit card as we are unable to accept any bank transfers (Pease note, we do not accept payment through American Express).

If this is not possible, we will accept an overseas cheque or money order in Australian dollars.

You will need to make a request to the LPAB office in writing if you intend to make payment via overseas cheque or money order. Please email [email protected] with your request.

You will be permitted to enrol with the LEC and commence tuition prior to receipt however your enrolment will not be processed by LPAB until payment is complete and if not received in a timely manner, you will not be permitted to sit for examinations.
