Ceremony attendance

Being admitted at an admission ceremony

For full details, please refer to the fact sheet on Attending an Admission Ceremony. The information below is a brief overview only.

Changes to ceremony protocols may occur from time to time.  If a change affects your ceremony booking, we will email you with updated information.  Please check your spam folder in case your email provider has identified the email as spam.

Please note that:

  • the admittee and mover must be properly attired as they are appearing in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.  That means smart business attire for women and coat, shirt and tie for men.
  • Barristers moving admittees must be gowned
  • each admittee is permitted to bring only 3 guests into the Court Room (including the admittee's mover, if the admittee has chosen to arrange their own mover)
  • you are not obliged to arrange a lawyer to move your admission (and if you do not bring a mover, the Court will have someone available to move your admission)
  • admittees and their guests should arrive 45 minutes before the ceremony
  • late arrivals will not be permitted entry by the Court
  • while at the Court you will also need to sign the Supreme Court Roll after the ceremony and receive your Certificate of Admission.
