On 3 June 2025, the Fair Work Commission determined in the Annual Wage Review 2024-2025 Decision to increase the National Minimum Wage and minimum award rates of pay by 3.5% from 1 July 2025.
The Industrial Relations Commission of NSW, acting on its own initiatives, issued a Summons to Show Cause that asked interested parties why it should not adopt the AWR Decision. The Commission will also consider whether it ought to vary any of the Award Making Principles. In particular, the Commission has invited submissions on whether the Commission should amend the Paid Rates Adjustment mechanism at paragraphs 6.3 to 6.6 of the Principles, whether the Commission ought to determine a 2025-2026 Paid Rates Adjustment, and if so, what the Adjustment ought to be.
